The new anime season is about to start! Thought there would be only a few series that I would definitely watch, but when looking over the spring season line up there’s quite a bit of shows that piqued my interest.
Am looking forward with much anticipation to “To aru Kagaku no Railgun S”, sequel to the original run of the “To aru Majutsu no Index” spin-off centered around irresistibly cute tsundere Misaka Mikoto, her circle of close friends and their adventures at Academy City. Loved the first season so cannot wait to see more!

Originally a light novel series which already spawned a manga adaptation, “Hentai Ouji To Warawanai Neko” now gets the anime treatment. Although a harem comedy, adore the manga and the promotional video promises the anime will lean close to the original character designs by Kantoku so am confident this will be an excellent show.
Another show I’m very much looking forward to is “Attack on Titan”, the anime based on the “Shingeki no Kyojin“ manga. Became curious about this manga after reading about it on Listless Ink, but only recently picked it up and it’s been a thrilling read so far. Am hoping this show will provide the same level of stunning storytelling that “Shinsekai Yori” did.
Although it didn’t always excel as much as I had hoped it would, “Haiyore! Nyaruko-san” was a hilarious comedy full of oddball characters so am glad it is back for more madness with the crawling chaos, the fiery redhead and the shota trap. There go my SAN points!

Will probably watch “Ore no Imouto ga Konna ni Kawaii Wake ga Nai.” although am not sure how much I will enjoy this sequel as I was not all that fond of the original Oreimo anime, mostly due to Kirino’s character. Personally never understood the appeal of Kirino’s character or fans’ limitless infatuation with her.

Light novel adaptation “Red Data Girl” seems quite interesting, it boasts original character designs by Kishida Mel and a promising intro video. Even though it looks like it will be a rather dark themed series instead of a heart warming coming of age story, nonetheless think it may become a terrific series.
Several episodes of it have already aired online on the Nico Nico Douga, but have not sampled them yet as am waiting for the televised run.
Another serious, dark and ominous looking show is “Aku no Hana”, whose promise of drama and foray into the psyche of a few youths with a dark streak does intrigue me. Have not read the original manga which it is based on, but have high hopes for this show.
While I do find a good drama or dark action series enjoyable once in a while, am still more fond of slice-of-life comedies, hence plan to try out “Yuyushiki” and “Aiura” which sound like they’ll fit the slice-of-life or comedy bill just perfectly. Hope those series will provide nice and light weekly entertainment.
A science fiction series set in the distant future animated by Production IG with a slick promotional videos, the overall plot “Suisei no Gargantia” sounds like something right out of a jrpg game, promising plenty of intriguing adventures if done right so will check it out.

There are plenty of anime based on eroge or dating sim games, rarely do they stand out or truly excel, nonetheless do feel that “Photo Kano” just might turn out to be a decent series.
Considering the original game is lauded as a successor to the “Kimikiss” & “Amagami” games, which both spawned good anime adaptations, this show which features a protagonist who is into photography might just be a fun watch. Of course, the promise of it being full of cute girls is also a good reason to check it out.
Following the trend of anime adaptations of light novel series with impossibly long titles, will give romantic comedy “Yahari Ore no Seishun Love Come wa Machigatteiru“ or ‘Oregairu’ a try, hoping it will turn out better than shows like “Ore no Kanojo to Osananajimi ga Shuraba Sugiru” or even “Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai“.
Not sure yet if “Hayate no Gotoku! Cuties“ will be worth watching, considering I dropped last year’s “Hayate no Gotoku: Can’t Take My Eyes Off You“ spin off story as it was sorely disappointing. However, the fact each episode of this new anime will focus on a different female character of the franchise might see it turn out into alright after all.
“Haitai Nanafa” will see its second season air, but have yet to watch the first season which somehow seems quite hard to find. Probably will not watch “Hyakka Ryouran: Samurai Bride” as even though have watched the first season, the show turned out to be rather disappointing.
What’s on your to watch list for spring?
