The new anime season is about to start! After going over the winter season line-up, only selected a handful of shows to watch. Might still sample a few additional new series, but I purposely want to limit myself considering that last season I started watching a lot of new shows but soon lost interest in many of them.
Am definitely watching “Aldnoah.Zero 2”, the much anticipated sequel of last summer’s mecha anime which really blew me, that show got better each episode and ended with an epic finale. Am somewhat apprehensive about the second season as I have high expectations of it, so its creators really will have to pull out all the stops.

The promotional videos that already appeared for “Aldnoah.Zero 2” seem to suggest that they may not stick to some of the daring choices made in the first season’s finale. That finale may hence turn out to be a cop out or the sequel’s opening episode will have some incredulous turn plot twists, still giving the creators the benefit of the doubt for now.
Thoroughly enjoyed the first two seasons of “Dog Days”, so will watch the third season too. Although not stellar or novel in any way, it is a solid action comedy series full of silliness that never fails to entertain with its large cast of cute animal eared characters.
The winter line-up does not seem to contain many slice-of-life genre shows, only spotted “Koufuku Graffiti” which looks very promising, the show is based on a four panel comedy manga all about the daily lives of several cute girls who enjoy cooking. Knowing studio Shaft is at the helm of the anime adaptation, am expecting great things of this series.
With the immense popularity of the online card game, it was only a matter of time before a “Kantai Collection: Kan Colle” anime would be made. The promotional videos look very promising, am hoping this show will be somewhat like “Strike Witches” or “Girls und Panzer”, offering enough action but overall being mostly all about moe girls who are cute anthropomorphisms of warships.

Will also try “Rolling☆Girls”, a project by Wit Studio, am interested in this show after watching the trailer, it looked somewhat similar to studio Trigger’s eclectic “Kill la Kill” with over the top fights and a ridiculous plot synopsis, yet it boasts a very different setting and visual design.
Though personally do prefer the “Love Live!” franchise and its cute girls more, enjoyed the first “THE iDOLM@STER” anime, so will likely watch “THE iDOLM@STER: Cinderella Girls” too.
Last show that piqued my interest in the winter season line-up is “Miritari!”, a four panel manga adaptation that looks like it might be a fun military themed comedy, perhaps not unlike “Sabagebu!”.
What do you plan to watch this winter season?
