When I purchased the Sony A7 last month, only acquired the camera body and the FE 55mm f/1.8 prime lens. Purposely omitted to buy anything else for it as first wanted to have a few days hands on with the camera itself before looking at accessories for it.
Had read plenty of reviews that warned the battery life of the Sony A7 is nowhere near that of the average Canon or Nikon DSLR. Took advantage of the Christmas days to purchase a second battery as well as a battery charger.
Although they do cost more, took no risks and opted for an original Sony NP-FW50 battery and their BC-TRW battery charger.

With the Alpha 7 or ILCE-7, Sony includes a power adapter allowing you to charge the battery while it is installed in the camera. Although this is quite convenient, personally still opted to purchase a separate charger for two reasons:
First reason is that after years of using a Canon, am simply accustomed to using a separate battery charger. Second reason is more practical, the separate battery charger allows me to charge a battery while still using the camera with another battery installed in it.
Now hope that the weather will clear up soon and allow me to snap some photos.
