This past November, was fortunate to spend several weeks in Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia.
As it was a business trip, my weekdays were spent working at the office, on mission to assist local colleagues. However, took the opportunity to visit restaurants during the evenings and on the weekends discovered Kuala Lumpur city thanks to comrade and host Solomon Freeman.

It was a terrific experience so want to share some of the photos I made during my stay in Kuala Lumpur, you can see the entire set on Flickr.
In the heart of the city itself you find Kuala Lumpur’s most famous intersection in Bukit Bintang, an area that gathers some of its largest shopping malls like Suria KLCC, Pavilion, Berjaya Times Square, Plaza Low Yat,…

You can also find Hutong Lot 10 there, which holds a food court below the Lot 10 shopping center filled with hawker inspired stalls that serve delicious, authentic cuisine.

No doubt the most famous landmark of Kuala Lumpur, the Petronas Twin Towers. At their base is the Suria KLCC shopping center.
Suria KLCC is a must visit spot for otaku because the mall has a Kinokuniya book store with original Japanese manga, artbooks and more.

If you like shopping, Kuala Lumpur is an ideal destinations with its many huge malls, each filled with brand stores and restaurants.
Due to its convenient proximity to the local office, stayed at the Sunway Resort Hotel & Spa, adjacent to the Sunway Pyramid mall. Even that shopping center is so large, spent an entire day in it leisurely walking around and browsing the many stores.

Next to an observation deck, the iconic Kuala Lumpur Tower also houses Atmosphere 360, a revolving restaurant at 282 meters high that offers a breathtaking panoramic view of the city.

Although it was rather cloudy on occasion, overall had good weather during our lunch at Atmosphere 360, so was able to fully enjoy the epic view as well as the restaurant’s luscious buffet.

Snapped quite a bit of photos of the cityscape from KL tower, even though the windows and haze made it rather tricky to get excellent shots. Had to boost the clarity in most images to reduce the haze.

Another signature tourist spot well worth the visit is Chinatown and its Petaling street, a roofed pedestrian street filled with shops and hawker stalls, where tourists and locals alike haggle with merchants over what are usually counterfeit goods.

As Belgium is not exactly famous for street food, had some reservations against the food prepared at such stalls but the food I tried from hawkers during my stay in Kuala Lumpur always proved to be delicious.

While I did avoid most of the spicy cuisine, overall really enjoyed the food in Malaysia, as well as the culture with its unique mix of bustling city life and laid back attitude, and of course the plethora of shopping malls in Kuala Lumpur. It was a terrific experience.

Even though I may have lamented the blistering heat and high humidity while there, the cold winter weather awaiting me when I returned home is even less pleasant, almost prompting me to wish I was back in Kuala Lumpur.
