The crawling chaos is back for more madness! Originally a light novel series written by Manta Aisora , “這いよれ! ニャル子さん“ already spawned a first anime adaptation last spring and now gets a second season with “Haiyore! Nyaruko-san W”.
Terrific to see the cutest Nyarlathotepian in the universe and her crazy comrades back for more silly shenanigans with a hilarious opening episode, especially appreciated the various references to other anime and how they oft broke down the fourth wall.

When the first season “Haiyore! Nyaruko-san” aired last year, had originally not planned to watch it but picked it up after seeing its energetic opening online, never regretted doing so since it delivered lots of excellent comedy.
Must confess however that even though quite enjoyed it, overall the first season was not as good as I had hoped it would be as not all episodes were of the same level, the type of humor used “Haiyore! Nyaruko-san” can also become stale when overused. Hope this second season will not fall prey to the same trap.
Although Kuuko makes a tongue in cheek comment about the show’s budget, do get the impression that studio Xebec has increased the overall level of the animation quality as most scenes seemed very fluid with plenty of care in the animation of the main characters and their facial expressions.
Quite glad that the voice cast for the main characters all reprise their roles for this sequel. Especially Asumi Kana delivers a terrific performance as Nyaruko, she also voiced Miya in “Amagami SS”, Sasami in “Sasami-san@ganbaranai”, Poplar in “Working!!” and Yukikaze in “Dog Days”.

Male lead Mahiro is actually voiced by Kitamura Eri who previously portrayed Karen in “Nisemonogatari”, Allean in “Queen’s Blade”, Uchida in “Minami-ke” and Miu in “Papa no Iu Koto wo Kikinasai”. Outsubo Yoko voices Kurei, she also did Kyouko in “Yuru Yuri” and Wakaba in “Vividred Operation”.
Cute shota trap Hasuta is voiced by Kugimiya Rie, she also voiced Alphonse in “Fullmetal Alchemist”, Shana in “Shakuga no Shana” and Taiga in “Toradora!”. Matsuki Miyu voices Kuuko, she previously tackled roles like Isumi in “Hayate no Gotoku!”, Ayari in “Maria†Holic” and Yoshinoya in “Hidamari Sketch”.
Wonder if the new opening track ‘Koi wa Konton no Reichi’ will prove to be as addictive or popular as the first season’s energetic ‘Taiyou Iwaku Moe yo Chaos’.
To those who like silly comedies I can definitely recommend to try out “Haiyore! Nyaruko-san W”, having watched the first season is not a prerequisite to enjoy this sequel.
