Another sequel next to “Minami-ke Tadaima”, was looking forward to “Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai NEXT”, the second season of the anime based on the “僕は友達が少ない” light novel series by Hirasaka Yomi.
Quite enjoyed the first season of “Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai”, even though the show did not particularly excel but oft seem to remain imprisoned within the typical tropes of the harem comedy genre.

Nonetheless, the first season did prove that “Haganai” -as it most often referred to- is a solid, funny show. One of its most striking, positive elements is the terrific chemistry between the two leading female characters, Yozora & Sena.
Sparks fly between Yozora & Sena at the start of this second season, so much it makes me wish they would further develop a relationship between these two, instead of involving the male lead. The terrific verbal banter between them is even more entertaining thanks to the excellent voice work of Inoue Marina and Itou Kanae.
Animation by studio AIC Build is good, although did spot a few scenes where the animation level seemed to drop slightly. With the same studio at the helm, continuity in animation style is guaranteed, do wonder if the change in director and writer may lead to them straying from the light novel plot.
Next to the shapely Sena, Kanae Itou voiced Saten in “To aru Kagaku no Railgun”, Nobuna in “Oda Nobuna no Yabou”, Nana in “To Love RU”, Yui in “Sword Art Online” and Ohana in “Hasaku Iroha”.
Inoue Marina who voices Yoroza also voiced Yoko in “Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann”, Natsuru in “Kämpfer”, Matsurika in “Maria†Holic” and voices Kana in this season’s “Minami-ke Tasaima”.

The rest of the voice cast reprise their roles from the first season, with Fukuen Misato voicing bespectacled Rika, she previously tackled roles like Yoshika in “Strike Witches”, Yin in “Darker Than Black”, Anzu in “Girls und Panzer” and Golden Darkness in “To Love RU”.
Loli nun Maria is again voiced by Iguchi Yuka, she also voiced Index in “To aru Kagaku no Index”, Mako in “Girls und Panzer”, Tsukihi in “Nisemonogatari” and Norie in “Tamayura ~hitotose~”.
Kodaka’s sister Kobato is voiced by Hanazawa Kana, she also voiced Ichiko in “Binbougami ga!”, Ruri in “Ore no Imouto ga Konnani Kawai Wake ga Nai”, Maria in “Shinsekai Yori” and Chizuru in “Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun”
Even if some episodes may turn out not being that great or the series may not excel overall, am still confident that “Haganai NEXT” will provide plenty of laughs, much like its first season.
Regardless, the excellent chemistry between Yozora & Sena enhanced by the terrific voice work of Inoue Marina and Itou Kanae is near reason enough to watch this show.
